Abstract

Background: Separation of nickel-titanium (NiTi) rotary instruments during root canal treatment is an important clinical concern. Conventional retrieval techniques usually require radicular dentin removal to establish straight-line access and direct visualization of the fragment, which may compromise root integrity. This case series describes a conservative technique for retrieving apically located separated instruments using the XP-3D Shaper after complete bypass negotiation. The technique was performed without staging platform preparation or direct microscopic visualization of the fragment.
